Brenda N. Laigaie has a wide range of experience in health law focusing on physician contracting and transactional matters. Ms. Laigaie's practice concentrates on assisting physicians and their practices in all matters pertaining to payor contracting, payor issues and payor negotiations. She assists clients in responding to overpayment demands and audits, as well as addressing compliance issues related to payor quality programs such as Meaningful Use, PQRS, and Value-Based Modifier.
In addition, Ms. Laigaie has considerable expertise in areas involving general corporate and business matters, fraud and abuse and other regulatory matters, general employment matters, practice acquisitions and mergers, practice sales, and physician/hospital arrangements, including medical staff matters. Ms. Laigaie also works with several practices in the area of research and clinical trials. Ms. Laigaie has extensive experience with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”), as amended by the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (“HITECH”). She regularly advises physician practices on compliance with HIPAA/HITECH, making breach determinations and notifications and responding to complaints and audits. She also serves as the HIPAA Compliance Officer for Wade, Goldstein.
Prior to joining Wade, Goldstein, Ms. Laigaie served as in-house counsel to the University of Pennsylvania Health System, primarily assisting in all areas of managed care contracting, payor negotiations, physician networks, and disease management initiatives.
Ms. Laigaie received her Bachelor of Science, with honors, from Drexel University. She graduated from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she received awards for participation on the Beasley School of Law's trial team. Ms. Laigaie is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania.
