Our Office: William Bishop's La Carne, circa 1892

In 1998, WGL&A purchased William Beaumont Bishop's historic-yet-deteriorating La Carne  and undertook a two-year restoration to return it to its former glory. The house's name, La Carne, was perhaps in reference to a name associated with the property before the house’s construction. A distinctive feature of this Queen Anne home is a porte-cochere, a porch under which a carriage may be driven.  Bishop was proprietor of the Keystone Cement Company, a prolific Paoli concrete block business. He was also an architect and builder who erected many area buildings.
